Beneficiary Information

Beneficiary Organizations can raise funds for their organizations by:

  • Recruiting youth and adult walkers for the Help the Homeless Walkathon on the National Mall.
  • Hosting Mini-Walks in partnership with schools, community-based organizations, and faith-based groups.
  • Recruiting donors and/or Sponsoring Partners to support their organization.

Additionally, there are Incentive Programs that provide additional funding to qualified Beneficiaries.

Walker Recruitment Incentive Program

Beneficiary Organizations can receive walker recruitment incentive awards of up to $50,000 for recruiting adults and youth who pay the registration fee and participate in the Walkathon on the National Mall or in Mini-Walks. Incentive awards are as follows:

  • $2,000 for organizations that recruit 150 to 299 walkers
  • $5,000 for organizations that recruit 300 to 549 walkers
  • $10,000 for organizations that recruit 550 to 849 walkers
  • $15,000 for organizations that recruit 850 to 1,099 walkers
  • $20,000 for organizations that recruit 1,100 to 1,499 walkers
  • $25,000 for organizations that recruit 1,500 to 2,999 walkers
  • $50,000 for organizations that recruit 3,000 or more walkers

Awards issued under this program are contingent upon the availability of funds, as well as the number and type of contribution requests. It is currently contemplated that the Walker Recruitment Incentive Program will have $1.8 million available for distribution to Beneficiaries in 2009. In the event that total distributions would exceed available funds, distribution amounts will be reduced for all Beneficiaries on a non-discriminatory and pro-rata basis.

Sponsoring Partner Incentive Program

Beneficiary Organizations can receive Sponsoring Partner incentive awards by recruiting partner sponsorships. For each Sponsoring Partner recruited, the Beneficiary will receive an incentive award equal to 20% of the Sponsoring Partner’s commitment fee actually contributed (see Partner Sponsorship Levels below).

The maximum a Beneficiary can receive through the Sponsoring Partner Incentive Program is $30,000. Up to $300,000 is allocated overall for the Sponsoring Partner Incentive Program, therefore awards are earned on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date full payment is received from the Sponsoring Partner.
Beneficiaries can receive Sponsoring Partner incentive awards for up to five Sponsoring Partners. It is the Sponsoring Partner’s responsibility to designate its Beneficiary sponsorship at the time of registration no later than Friday, November 20, 2009.

Depending on the level of sponsorship, Sponsoring Partners may direct commitment fees to one or more specific Beneficiary Organization or to the Help the Homeless General Fund. If more than one Beneficiary is designated, the Sponsoring Partner’s commitment fees and the 20% incentive award will be allocated evenly between the Sponsoring Partner’s designated Beneficiaries.

2009 Sponsoring Partner Levels:

  • $100,000.00
  • $50,000.00
  • $35,000.00
  • $20,000.00
  • $10,000.00
  • $5,000.00
  • $1,500.00

Some restrictions apply to incentive award participation:

  • A Sponsoring Partner must designate its Beneficiary sponsorship online no later than Friday, November 20, 2009.
  • All Sponsoring Partner payments must be turned in or postmarked by Saturday, November 21, 2009. Any funds received after Saturday, November 21 will be designated to the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless General Fund.
  • Government funding will not be eligible for Sponsoring Partner incentive awards.
  • The Sponsoring Partner’s commitment fees and the 20% incentive award will be allocated evenly between the Sponsoring Partner’s designated Beneficiaries.

Note: Any organization providing false or misleading information will be disqualified from receiving incentive funds (e.g., walker recruitment, and Sponsoring Partner incentives) and may be disqualified from current and/or future Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Program activities, at Fannie Mae’s sole discretion.
